18th May 2008Firsts & Seconds Record First Wins, Thirds Trampelled
Paultons put the ghosts of last weeks disappointing loss behind them as they beat local rivals Toton & Eling II. Paultons made use of the bowler friendly conditions restricting T & E to 10-3 from the first 10 overs. Resistance from J Metcalfe (31) and N Bungay (47) nudged the visitors to 100, however Andy Denney (3-27) and some suicidal run outs left Paultons with 134 to chase after tea. Things couldn't have started worse for the Whitemoor Lane outfit as they stumbled to 53-6, John Robinson did his best to keep the hosts in it with 44. Lee Wateridge and Jamie Cooper eased nerves though and saw them home with 3 wickets in hand.
The second team managed to drop 7 catches and still win though thanks to tight bowling from Storm Anning & Paul Wilde to restrict Langley Manor to 172-6. Paultons made light work reaching the target largely thanks to a skippers knock of 60 from Mark Lamb.
The third team were humbled by 10 wickets by West Moors. Being bowled out for 129 was not in the plan on a tricky Minstead wicket. The visitors easily dismissed the required runs without loss.

However the home team soon slumped to 199 all out, a hatrick of catches to the same fielder not helping them post a competitive total. Paultons bowled tidily in the visitors reply and took 8 wickets, Jamie Cooper & John Robinson with 3 apiece. This wasn't to be enough though as Bashley scraped home with 4 balls to spare.
The seconds lost their opener to Brockenhurst at Lymington Rec. Making an uncompetitve 195, promising youngster Luke Gould making 43, Brockenhurst made light work of the total winning by 4 wickets.
The third team beat Ellingham II by 11 runs. Terry O'Brien scored a flawless 60 on the way to 222-8. A good team bowling permormance thankfully dismissing Elingham for 211 to start the season with a win.
